7 Effective Steps to Write Your Articles

THE SECRET OF BECOMING A WRITER IS TO WRITE, WRITE AND KEEP ON WRITING. KEN MACLEOD

Are you looking for a simple and effective way to write an article?  You can follow the steps listed here because these are the steps that I adopt when I write an article:

1.      Write what you know: Write what you are interested in and good at, write about your work, your experience and what you have learnt and discovered. Provide relevant information that is valuable, unique, useful and unbiased.

2.      Great headlines: Your headline is the first thing to write. It is the subject matter to focus on. A headline is to attract readers’ attention and read your article. It is good to add emotional marketing values  to your title to make it more appealing. The title of this article that you are reading now has a 43% of EMV words which appeals equally to people's intellectual, empathetic, and spiritual spheres.

3.      Ideas: Get the main points of the article here. These will be your sub-headlines and the ideas are the answers to your title.

4.      Content: Develop and elaborate on your ideas. Write for the readers and not for search engines.  Write in short paragraphs and use short and simple words. The aim is to communicate with your readers effectively. Write in bullet points or number your points so that your article is scannable.

5.      Begin with a bang: Your opening paragraph should be as good as your title. I usually like to start my article with a relevant quote from a famous person. Telling a story is a powerful way to start an article. Asking soul- searching questions is a good way to jolt the mind of readers.

6.      End by a call to action: When you have conveyed your ideas to your readers, urge the readers to take action in the last paragraph. Another way is to invite participation from readers by asking them for their ideas.

7.      Edit and proofread:  When you have finally got the article done, you can take a break and come back later to edit and proofread it. To edit is to check grammar and spelling mistakes, verify facts and fix content problems. To proofread is to look for typos. It is more effective to get someone to edit and proofread your finished article.

You can write effectively by reading popular blogs and writing persistently and regularly to gain trust and build authority on the subject that you are writing about.
