When you are mentally healthy, you are able to adapt yourself to the harsh environment and promote a healthy relationship with others and lead a stress-free life. Here are the ten secrets of mental health:


1. Positive self-image: A positive self- image means high self-esteem. You are able to accept your own strengths and weaknesses. You change what can be changed and accept what cannot be changed. You express yourself freely about your feelings and opinions. You may not agree but you respect the views of others. Most important of all you are able to face negative encounters with positive emotions and live happily.

2. Learn from the past, plan for the future and live the moment: You are able to learn from your past mistakes and without dwelling too much on them and plan carefully to meet the challenges of the future. However, you have also mastered the art of living in the present which you have full control of.

3. Able to control your emotions: A person with high EQ is able to understand and control his own emotions so that he does not behave in such a way that is harmful to himself or irritating to others.

4. Be socially connected: Make friends and be connected with others in society. The interaction with people is a source of satisfaction and happiness. Involve in community projects and help others. You should also find that your job is enjoyable, interesting, and meaningful.

5. Avoid negative psychological factors: Whenever your mind is filled with negative thoughts replace them quickly with positive emotions. Eradicate such negative emotions like anxiety, stress, suspicion, fear, and worries. Negative emotions are detrimental to psychological health.

6. Early treatment and recovery from mental sickness: When you are not well you seek treatment early and be cured sooner. It is the same thing with mental illnesses. Do not allow the situation to deteriorate. Get professional help early to be healed and maintain your psychological health.

7. Resilience: It means you are able to bounce back from setbacks without losing your confidence and optimism and also your sense of perspective.

8. Personal money: Manage your finance well. When you live within your means you have no money problems and it means a carefree life.

9. Physically active, a balanced diet and sleep well: Eat your breakfast, exercise every day and sleep soundly for about 8 hours are all important routines for mental health and stress management.

10. Relaxation: Relaxation is a good way to maintain your mental health. Unwind yourself after a hard day’s work. What do you like to do – meditation, Tai Chi, Yoga, massage, deep breathing, music or gardening?


Mental health is just as important as physical health. Promote mental and physical fitness for your happiness and well-being.
